The California State Band Championships is proud to partner with the Southwest Judges Network (SWJN) as our adjudication partner. SWJN provides all adjudication and judge training for all CSBC events. To contact SWJN, please e-mail Dr. Tim Benge at tim@swjn.org.
Interested in judging for CSBC?
CSBS and SWJN are always looking for people with a solid background in the marching arts to serve as judges.
If you have strong performing, teaching or designing experience, we can help you become a judge. If you are currently serving as a judge for another circuit, you may qualify for our fast-track path to joining our active roster.

Philosophy
The goal of the Southwest Judges Network, in partnership with the California State Band Championship Series, is to provide a supportive, educational, and consistent forum of competition. This includes ranking and rating student performances while providing scoring-significant commentary. We partner with unit directors, instructors, and students in providing an objective and unbiased reflection of the level of achievement presented in their performance that day.
